6 years

6 years ago yesterday me and Allsy started going out. We celebrated the only way we knew how, with a fish finger sandwich and tartare sauce, tiramisu, chocolate brownies and an evening of Life on Mars. Lovely stuff.

The gorgeous crimson rose on the left hand side, William Shakespeare 2000, I bought exactly a year ago yesterday for our 5th year together. I absolutely adore roses, we have 29 rose bushes in our garden but still not enough in my eyes.

I must confess that the garden is looking a bit scruffy at the moment, I really need a solid weekend on it but it shall have to wait until next weekend I'm afraid due to Allsy's birthday celebrations this weekend, woop woop!

The bees don't seem to care what state it's in though, they have been merrily buzzing away, happily hopping from flower to flower.

In spite of my neglect there are still some flowers out too, although not nearly enough for my liking.

The foxgloves are out in force, towering over proceedings.

My pretty little Aquilegias have finished flowering but I quite like the little triumphant looking seed heads that dance about in the wind.

Allium 'Purple Sensation' has also finished flowering but again I like the structure that they bring. I really must think more about plants that have those lovely architectural qualities and that give you that much needed structure for wintertime.

Allium Christophii has merrily taken over the allium mantle. Note to self, must get more alliums for next year, they are marvellous things.

Lots of other plants are happily flowering away and looking pretty too. The wild flowers are giving me the allusion that I have my own little wildflower meadow.

The Erigeron is looking so delicate and pretty.

Cerinthe major 'Purpurascens', or Honeywort as it is most commonly known, is making a grand cut flower.

And finally Masterwort is a lovely flash of pink. Like a precious jewel glowing in my border.

Oh how I love flowers. Not as much as I love my Allsy though, happy anniversary sweetheart, here's to many more happy years together! xx

  1. Your garden looks so beautiful - exactly what I want my garden to one day look like! And 29 rose bushes....wowzers! How big is the garden?! (And happy 6 year anniversary! A fish finger sandwich sounds like the perfect way to celebrate).

    1. The gardens not very big. I can't take the credit for all the roses though, Wilf was a man who lived in our house before us for 50 years and he was obsessed with roses, I have him to thank for some truly beautiful specimens. I keep meaning to take cuttings of all my favourites in case we ever move, would hate to lose them and I haven't a clue what variety they are.

    1. Thank you. The garden's looking more overgrown than lush at the moment I'm afraid to say! :)

    1. Alliums are truly beautiful things. After reading about them I thought they'd hate our thick heavy clay soil but they seem exceedingly happy here, just goes to show :)

    1. Haha there's a reason why I've mainly shown close up photos of the garden this time, trust me it's like a jungle out there! :)

  5. Gorgeous flowers, no wonder the bees are having a field day! I haven't even one rosebush - something I need to rectify. Lush photos - your garden has burst into life these past few weeks.

Happy anniversary to you both and Happy Birthday to Allsy!

thanks for joining in again and sharing xx

    1. Eeh dear, go rectify that fact immediately and treat yourself to a rose bush, no English garden is complete without one. :)

Oh and thank you by the way, I think I may have been a bit slushy on this post for my liking though, apologies if I've made anyone feel ill with my sloppiness!

    1. Thank you kindly, congratulations to you two too, that is lovely :) Foxgloves are one of my favourite plants too, the ones in our garden seem ridiculously tall this year for some strange reason but I love them!
